Nanaimo RCMP says investigators believe the assault of a 15-year-old girl was videoed and are hoping witnesses will come forward.

The assault happened on March 21 around 10:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of Labieux Road.

RCMP says a 15-year-old girl was hit with a baton and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the assault was witnessed by “a group of young people” and that someone may have recorded it.

Additionally, two young women flagged down a passing driver on Labieux Road and the unknown driver drove the women to a home in the 600 block of 2nd Street in Nanaimo.

The next day, RCMP arrested another girl, whose age is not specified, who had also received minor injuries from “a bladed weapon” during the altercation.

Anyone who witnessed the altercation between 10 and 11 p.m. on March 21, recorded the incident, or gave a ride to the two young women is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and reference file # 2024-8771.
