Nanaimo woman charged with aggravated assault following weekend stabbing

A 51-year-old Nanaimo woman has been charged with one count of aggravated assault following an alleged stabbing near Port Place Mall, according to RCMP.

In a news release, RCMP say officers found a 27-year-old man with apparent stab wounds to his head around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 14.

Police provided first aid until paramedics arrived to provide medical assistance. He was taken to the Nanaimo hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Kimberly Lewis was located a short distance away and arrested. She remains in police custody until Aug. 23.

“Investigators are now tasked with attempting to understand why this happened and if there was a conflict between the two that may have precipitated the incident”, said Const. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
