Mounties on Vancouver Island are hoping the public can help them locate a missing 48-year-old man who hasn’t been seen in months.

Aaron Akey, 48, was last seen sometime in April of this year, according to a press release issued by the Nanaimo RCMP.

Few details about his disappearance were provided in the release, but RCMP did say that Akey is homeless and is known to travel on foot between various communities on south and central Vancouver Island.

They also say Akey is prone to stay in shelters and camp in the wild.

“His family and the RCMP are concerned for Mr. Akey’s well-being and request the public’s assistance in finding him,” said Const. Simon Gallimore, media relations officer with the Nanaimo RCMP.

Akey is described as a 5’7 tall, medium-build male with short brown hair and blue eyes. At the time he was last seen, he had a beard.

Anyone with information regarding Akey’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file number 2022-24051.
