Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision.

The collision happened at about 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 20 in the McDonald’s parking lot on Princess Royal Avenue.

Police have recently received footage from surveillance cameras showing the suspect vehicle.

It is alleged the driver of the suspect vehicle, a red pickup with a black canopy, backed into a grey Honda Civic that was parked and unoccupied at the time.

The pickup collided with the rear fender of the Honda, leaving a large dent and scrape, according to RCMP in a release Tuesday.

Police add the pickup would have sustained significant rear-end damage.

The license plate of the suspect vehicle was not available, and the driver could not be seen.

“To date, investigators have no leads, and are hoping the public may be able to assist in identifying the suspect vehicle and the driver,” Const. Gary O’Brien said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP.
