An 11-year-old girl from Nanaimo crushed her fundraising goal for B.C. children and got help from her sisters to donate their hair.

Deeya Sharma more than doubled her goal to donate $3000 for BC Children’s Hospital by raising $7200 by canvassing her neighbourhood, school and around the community and online.

Deeya also donated her hair for Wigs for Kids BC and because she reached her fundraising goal, her younger twin sisters Leeya and Leena also donated their hair.

The grade six student of Pleasant Valley School in Nanaimo received $983 from fellow students.

The hair cutting took place at an assembly in front of the entire Pleasant Valley School last Friday.
