Comox Valley RCMP says an officer suffered a minor injury while arresting a man with a weapon on Wednesday.
Police were called to Anderton Road in Comox around 2:15 p.m. for a report of a man behaving erratically while in possession of a weapon.
As officers arrived, police say they saw the man enter a vehicle and try to leave the area by car, at which point Mounties say they “tactically contained” the man and arrested him.
“In the process, several vehicles sustained damage, and one police officer incurred minor injuries,” said RCMP in a release Thursday.
Anderton Road was closed between Ellenor Road and Ryan Road for several hours on Wednesday afternoon while police investigated the scene.
Mounties say the suspect also required medical attention, though they did not elaborate on the extent of his injuries.
“The Comox Valley RCMP would like to thank residents for their patience while traffic was disrupted,” said the detachment.
