A woman was ticketed after police say she struck a sign in Oak Bay, then fled the scene.

According to the Oak Bay Police Department, a witness observed a vehicle swerving while driving northbound in the 900-block of Foul Bay Road on May 14.

Police say the witness told them the motorist managed to drive over a sidewalk curb, struck a 30 km/h speed limit sign and sped off.

The vehicle was then reportedly last seen heading westbound on Brighton Avenue.

Police say officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later, but couldn’t find the driver as she had “fled the scene.”

Eventually, they say officers identified and located the motorist, who was issued violation tickets for driving without consideration and fail to remain at a scene of an accident.
