The driver of a pickup truck that was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Saanich has been hit with a nearly $200 fine.

The driver of a pickup truck involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Saanich has been fined nearly $200.

On March 9, at around 3:15 p.m., a full-sized pickup truck slammed into the back of a vehicle stopped in traffic on Tillicum Road, according to the Saanich Police Department.

The impact caused the vehicle to smash into the rear of the vehicle ahead of it, while the pickup truck ended up rolling on its side, trapping the driver inside.

“Emergency responders were able to help the driver out of the vehicle,” said Const. Markus Anastasiades of the Saanich Police Department. “Fortunately, there were no serious injuries sustained by any of the occupants.”

Anastasiades said the pickup truck driver was given a $196 ticket for driving without due care after they failed to notice the other vehicles ahead of them and stop in time.

The crash resulted in Tillicum Road being closed for nearly two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
