More schools added to Island Health's coronavirus exposure list

Three schools on Vancouver Island have been added to Island Health’s COVID-19 exposure list.

Kwalikum Secondary School — located at 266 Village Way in Qualicum Beach — experienced a COVID-19 exposure events on March 29, 30 and 31, according to an update on Island Health’s website.

Dunsmuir Middle School — located on Painter Road in Colwood — also experienced a COVID-19 exposure events on March 29, 30 and 31.

Furthermore, Nanaimo District Secondary School reported an exposure events occurring on March 29, 30 and 31 as well.

Six schools have now been added to Island Health’s coronavirus exposure list since students returned to the classroom following spring break — joinning Cedar Hill Middle School in Saanich, Wellington Secondary School in Nanaimo, and Oak Bay High School.

Island Health has warned students, parents and staff to expect rising school exposures in the coming weeks due to a surge in COVID-19 cases over spring break.

An exposure is defined by Island Health as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.
