Missing man, 65, last seen in Gold River found dead: RCMP

Nootka Sound RCMP say the man reported missing on Sunday, Sept. 17, has been found dead.

In an update Wednesday, Mounties say John McNeil, 65, was located deceased, and the cause of his death is not considered suspicious.

“The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” reads a release.

On Monday, RCMP asked the public to help in the search for McNeil, saying he was last seen leaving his home in Gold River on north Vancouver Island.

At the time, they said they were very concerned for McNeil’s health and well-being.
