A ball python that had gone missing for the second time back in August has been found deceased in Saanich, according to police.

On August 19, the Saanich Police Department received a report that the snake had gone missing in the area of Marigold Road and Jasmine Avenue.

The missing python report came just over a week after it was found in Victoria following a stretch where the same snake had been missing for more than a month.

The 1.4 metre, or four-and-a-half foot, ball python reportedly escaped from the owner who was sleeping in the 800-block of Snowdrop Avenue.

The snake was inside a backpack before it managed to get out and slither away.

The python was found in the same area on September 6, when a homeowner noticed it on their property and informed the police.

According to a police report, the python had been dead for quite a while at the time it was discovered.

The owner, who was contacted by Saanich Police once the snake was found, has confirmed that it is theirs and the one that was reported missing.
