Campbell River RCMP says a man is in serious but stable condition in hospital in Victoria after police responded to report of a violent domestic dispute Wednesday night.

Mounties went to a Campbell River home around 9:30 p.m. near the area of Ninth Avenue and Ironwood Street where they found a 43-year-old man on the property’s front lawn with what police describe as “obvious injuries from a knife”.

The man was taken to Campbell River Hospital by ambulance and was later transported to Victoria for treatment.

Police contacted a 33-year-old woman still inside the house, who eventually came to the front door and was arrested for assault causing bodily harm.

The woman is in court Thursday.

RCMP says the Campbell River Major Crime, Forensic Identification and General Duty Sections continue to investigate and are trying to secure a search warrant for the home.

Authorities say the two people knew each other and there is no danger to the public.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Campbell River RCMP.
