One man was detained after a collision south of Nanaimo.
A suspect has been taken to hospital after crashing on the Trans Canada Highway near Beck Road and the Cassidy Country Kitchen.
Nanaimo RCMP said the suspect tried to flee police in a red truck around 4:15 p.m.
According to police, he made a U-turn, lost control of the stolen vehicle and crashed into a ditch.
Police said he then tried to run but a police dog stopped him with a bite. The suspectwas taken to hospital to get stitches.
The crash caushed significant delays on the Trans-Canada highway near the Nanaimo airport.
