Alberta suspends B.C. wine ban as Horgan seeks legal advice on Trans Mountain pipeline

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley suspended the ban on imports of B.C. wine Thursday after Premier John Horgan said the government will ask the courts if it has the right to protect its environment by restricting diluted bitumen in the Trans Mountain pipeline.

Premier John Horgan says his government is filing a constitutional reference case on the issue, which has been at the centre of a heated dispute between his province and Alberta.

Horgan denied that B-C is backing down in the dispute, saying the intention is simply to have cooler heads prevail.
