35-year-old man facing second-degree murder charge after fatal shooting in Langford

One man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a 40-year-old woman was killed in a shooting in Langford on Friday.

Anthony Singh Dheensaw, 35, is charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of Dalman.

He is also facing another charge of attempted murder of Derrick Oke with a firearm. Police said the attempted murder was against a 41-year-old man.

He is in custody and is due back in court on March 16, 2020 at the Western Communities Courthouse.

West Shore RCMP said they were called to the shooting outdoors near the 800-block of Arncote Avenue in Langford shortly after 9:30 p.m. on March 6. When police arrived, they found Dalman had been shot. She later died of her injuries.

Police said the suspect, identified as Dheensaw, left the scene before police arrived and was later arrested Saturday morning by the Saanich police K-9 unit.

“West Shore RCMP is committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens. We believe this was an isolated crime and there is no on-going risk the public. West Shore remains a safe family oriented community,” Insp. Todd Preston, officer in Charge of West Shore RCMP, said in a statement.

West Shore RCMP, Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit and BC Coroners Service are investigating the shooting death. Anyone with information or anyone who was a witness is asked to call the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit line at 250-380-6211.
