RCMP say one man has been arrested in connection with a sex assault in Qualicum Beach
RCMP say a suspect has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of an elderly woman in Qualicum Beach on Aug. 19.
On Aug. 19 at around 8:15 a.m., an elderly woman was walking her dog in the wooded trails near the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. Police said a man who was in the woods masturbating called out to the woman.
The woman turned and tried to ignore the man but he allegedly grabbed her breasts from behind before fleeing on foot.
Joel Perry, a 34-year-old man from Qualicum Beach, was arrested by Oceanside RCMP on Sept. 10. Perry is facing one count of sexual assault.
He made his first court appearance on Sept. 12 and will remain in custody until his next appearance on Sept. 17.
