A man was arrested Thursday morning in downtown Victoria after threatening another person with a knife.

Officers were called to the 1000-block of Pandora Avenue just before 10 a.m. Thursday, according to police. They say a man had brandished a knife towards another man in a “threatening manner” after a verbal dispute and then fled into a grocery store.

Officers, along with a K9 team, were called to the location and found the suspect in the grocery store where he was arrested at gunpoint because he was believed to be armed and had committed a violent offence, according to police.

The man was searched and police found three knives and brass knuckles, according to VicPD. They say the man was on probation orders keeping him from possessing weapons of any kind.

Police transported the man to cells where he was held in custody for court.

The 28-year-old Victoria man faces recommended charges of breach of probation, according to police.

Victoria Police say no one was injured during the incident.

VicPD asks anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
