Man arrested after kicking open church doors, caused disturbance: VicPD

Victoria Police Department has arrested a man after a disturbance at downtown Victoria church Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they were called to a church in the 700-block area of View Street at around 2:30 p.m. Staff at the church had called 911 after a man allegedly kicked open the doors of the church, according to Police.

Police say when officers arrived, they located the man who had armed himself with an improvised weapon. Officers used pepper spray along with ARWEN less-lethal munitions to take the man into custody, according to police.

VicPD say the man was taken to the hospital for mental health evaluation, pepper spray decontamination, and medical assessment.
