West Shore RCMP arrested a man who allegedly spat on Real Canadian Superstore employee after he was caught attempting to leave the store with over $1,100 in unpaid merchandise. 

An unidentified man was arrested after he allegedly spat on a loss prevention officer Real Canadian Superstore in Langford.

According to a West Shore RCMP media release, officers were called to the Real Canadian Superstore in Langford on June 16 at 6:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a theft as well as an assault against an employee.

Officers attended the scene and discovered that a male suspect had been attempting to leave the store with over $1,100 worth of unpaid merchandise but was stopped by a loss prevention officer. The suspect allegedly spat on the loss prevention officer, before walking away from the shopping cart filled with unpaid goods.

West Shore RCMP officers located the suspect not far from the store and discovered that by being outside of his place of residence, he was violating a court-ordered curfew that had previously been placed on him. Officers ended up searching the suspect’s backpack and located additional items from the store that had not been paid for.

The suspect was arrested for assault, theft under $5000, and breaching his court conditions. He was held in custody and is set to appear in court today.
