Police are asking for help to locate the suspect of an attempted robbery with a weapon in Duncan Wednesday night.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP says the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 200-block of Evans Street when a male approached two people in a parked car.

Police say the male threatened them with a weapon, demanding drugs or money.

One of the victims quickly reversed the vehicle and the suspect took off on foot and got into a truck parked nearby.

RCMP says the plates on the vehicle start with MR and it is described as dark in colour and possibly a Dodge Ram with a lift kit and chrome on the back.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about 5’10” tall with a slim build, about 170 pounds and around 30-years-old.

Police say he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, a white facial covering with red on the mouth and dark coloured pants or jeans.

Authorities say the facial covering may have been an animated mouth with blood.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
