Major crime unit and RCMP investigating death of baby girl in Sooke

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating the death of a baby girl in Sooke.

Very few details are being released but the tragedy has left a small community in shock.

RCMP were called to a home in the Sooke Road and Dover Street area Monday morning and neighbours say police were on scene all day.

Police haven’t released any information about the investigation but a spokesperson says Sooke RCMP, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) and the coroner are all investigating.

It’s not yet clear if foul play is suspected.
