A Nanaimo girl was all smiles after having at least eight inches of her hair cut in front of her classmates at Aspengrove School Monday morning.

11-year-old Madison Ayou announced in February she would be donating her hair to the Wigs for Kids, B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Madison also had a goal of raising $5,000 for B.C. Children’s hospital, which she surpassed by collecting $5,050.

When she announced she was having her hair cut at a school assembly, Madison said, “No child should have to experience as many deaths as I have and no parent should have to feel the pain of losing a child.”
