Longtime Saanich councillor Vic Derman to be honoured at public memorial

A celebration of life for Vic Derman will take place April 2nd.

The memorial for the longtime Saanich councillor will be held at the Victoria Conference Centre at 2 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend the event. 

The CRD Director Vic Derman died at the age of 72 on March 17th.

Derman was first elected to Saanich Council in 2002 and has served on the CRD Board since 2005.

In a statement, the Mayor of Saanich, Richard Atwell said:

“This is a profound loss for Saanich and tragic news for our community.”

“Vic engaged with people in a way that made them feel important and heard. He was a passionate steward and advocate for the environment, and always worked towards making the world a better place. In that regard, Vic led by example – something for all of us to aspire to.”
