After the Lights of Wonder display has been carefully set up in Centennial Square, it is now available for the public to visit every night in December.

The Lights of Wonder has taken place in Centennial Square every year since 2019, but this year it will be open all month, whereas in previous years it was accessible in the second half of the month only.

As in previous years, the display will be free, accessible and pet-and-family friendly.

“We are so excited for the start of our month-long Lights of Wonder,” Jeff Bray, the CEO of the Downtown Victoria Business Association, which puts on the Lights of Wonder annually, said in a news release.

“We look forward to welcoming thousands of people from across the region into downtown. While in the area, we trust visitors will support our wonderful local downtown businesses.”

For the first night on Dec. 1, there will be additional festivities to draw people downtown.

Staring at 4 p.m., there will be $10 Bay Centre vouchers available for the first 1,000 visitors who check in with the Information Hut, there will be entertainment on stage including The Monkeys in a Box, JaimesonRhy, and Jason Verners,  a free photo booth, and free horse-drawn trolley rides.

For those who can’t make it for the first night, there will also be entertainment and activities taking place every Friday and Saturday night through the month, then nightly between Dec. 21 and 31.

The free horse-drawn trolley rides will be offered throughout the month on Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16.

Throughout the month, visitors can expect the free photo booths, Lion Dancer, Irish Dancer, treats and warm drinks, an opportunity to donate to local charities, giveaways, a pet night, roaming carolers, silent discos, a New Years celebration and more. The full schedule of events can be found on the DVBA website.
