No injuries are reported. However, the family dog was inside at the time of the fire. When it was clear for crews to go inside, the firefighters got him out and gave him oxygen. He was sent to the vet for some smoke inhalation. Langford Fire Chief Chris Aubrey says the animal is doing well.

“You can see that the family lost a lot in this fire so to be able to provide them with the news that we were able to reunite them with their pet was encouraging, gives them a little bit of bright light on a dark day,” said Aubrey.

BC. emergency services are now aiding the homeowners.

Fire officials said some neighbours were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.

A full investigation could take weeks to complete but as of right now Aubrey says they believe the blaze started in the area of the garage and then it spread through the roof.

Not quite sure what would have caused it to spread as quickly as it did other than the fact that investigators will look into the entire house but especially the garage area to see if we can find out what started the fire,” said Aubrey.
