The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced a recall of a frozen breaded chicken product on Thursday over fears of salmonella contamination.

The agency says Sofina Foods Inc. is recalling Janes brand Pub Style Chicken Nuggets from the marketplace.

The recall affects 800-gram packages with a best before date of Dec. 15, 2019.

According to the CFIA, as of March 22, 2019, there are four active national Salmonella outbreak investigations linked to raw chicken including frozen raw breaded chicken products, coordinated by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Currently, there are two cases of illness in one province, Ontario, linked to this Janes brand recall. The individuals became sick in February 2019. Both cases have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported. Frozen raw breaded chicken products have been identified as a source of this outbreak.

This is the fourth time this year the agency has announced a recall on frozen chicken nuggets, after previous notices affecting Compliments brand, No Name brand and Crisp & Delicious brand products.
