Thousands on Vancouver Island are without power following a spring wind storm.
BC Hydro is reporting 191 power outages impacting 16,897 customers across Vancouver Island as of 6:52 a.m. Thursday.
The majority of outages are between Qualicum Beach and Langford. There are also more than 6,000 customers across Galiano Island, Mayne Island, Pender Island, Saturna Island without power.
Large pockets of the Cowichan Valley, in particular, are in the dark including 1,332 customers in Chemainus, 1,106 customers north of Dogwood Road in Ladysmith and some 600 customers between Cowichan Bay and Cobble Hill.
In Nanaimo, more than 1,127 customers are without power.

Elsewhere in the Greater Victoria region, 232 customers in Brentwood Bay, 210 customers in Willis Point, 255 customers in View Royal and 116 customers near Victoria General Hospital are without power this morning.
The outages are largely the result of a wind storm that continued during the overnight period. On Wednesday, the storm left more than 50,000 customers on the Island without power and BC Hydro said some customers in the Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum Beach areas be without power during the overnight period.
Saanich PD is also reporting that the 1700-block of Cedar Hill Cross Roads remains closed due to a large tree that fell yesterday afternoon.
As a result of the strong wind Wednesday, seismographs in Victoria and Nanaimo picked up significant amounts of ground shaking.
Today’s #BCStorm had quite the punch. Just ask these people in a #Nanaimo mobile home park. A carport was hit by the tree. No one was hurt. @CHEK_News Credit: Verna Carole Falconer pic.twitter.com/jxOTRheNeX
