An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at a care facility in Victoria.

Island Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Hart House long-term care home in Victoria on Saturday afternoon after an employee at the facility tested positive for the virus.

The health authority says all 17 residents living at the facility have been tested and that none of them are currently experiencing any symptoms.

“Communication with staff, residents and their families is ongoing,” Island Health said in a statement. “Enhanced control measures have been put in place at the home and Island Health is working with leadership and staff to protect the health and safety of all residents and staff.”

As a result of the outbreak, all residents are now isolated to their suites, congregate dining has ended as residents will now be served meals in their rooms, and admissions, transfers, and social visits have ended.

The infected employee remains at home and all other staff members will be tested for COVID-19, according to Island Health.
