Island Health declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Wexford Creek long-term care facility over on Saturday afternoon.

An outbreak of the novel coronavirus at a long-term care home on Vancouver Island officially over.

Island Health declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Wexford Creek long-term care facility over on Saturday afternoon.

The outbreak was first declared on Feb. 14, after a single staff member tested positive for the deadly virus.

There were no other cases identified in residents or staff at the facility, according to Island Health.

” The team at Wexford and Park Place Seniors Living is to be commended for their exceptional work ensuring no residents were affected by this outbreak and continuing to provide high-quality care under challenging circumstances,” the health authority said in a statement released to the media.

Wexford Creek, located on Tenth Street in Nanaimo, is owned and operated by Park Place Seniors Living.
