A Greater Victoria school was added to Island Health’s COVID-19 exposure list on Monday morning as cases in British Columbia continue to surge.

Parents, students and staff of David Cameron Elementary are being cautioned about possible exposures to the coronavirus in the previous week.

David Cameron Elementary — located at 675 Meaford Ave. — experienced a COVID-19 exposure on April 14, 15, and 16, according to Island Health.

The facility becomes the nineteenth school that is currently on Island Health’s Exposures in Schools list.

Over the weekend, Pleasant Valley Elementary in Nanaimo, École Victor-Brodeur in Victoria and Maple Bay Elementary School in Duncan were all added to the list as well.

With a growing concern surrounding case numbers and COVID-19 variants in British Columbia, some parents have opted to pull their children out of school due to the increased risks.

An exposure is defined by Island Health as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.
