Oak Bay police say an investigation is underway after $15,000 in eyewear was stolen from an Oak Bay business.

Deputy chief const. Julie Chanin tells CHEK News officers responded to the break and enter around 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 13.

She says the business was an optical retailer and the merchandise that was stolen was eyewear.

A K9 unit followed a track to a nearby parking lot, and it is believed the suspect fled in a vehicle. No suspect has been identified at this time.

“We do have some CCTV footage from the area, but it’s limited,” Chanin said. “If anyone was out and about walking in that time between 4:00-4:30 in the morning on Nov. 13 with dashcam video or saw anything suspicious, please contact Oak Bay Police.”

Oak Bay Police can be contacted at 250-592-2424 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
