A Langford woman is facing drug-related charges after she was found slumped over the wheel of her car Tuesday morning.

West Shore RCMP officers happened to be passing by a parked car at Hoffman Avenue and Winster Road at around 1 a.m. early Tuesday morning when they noticed a woman in the driver seat who appeared to be passed out at the wheel.

Police say they “observed signs of drug impairment” when checking on the driver. West Shore RCMP also say they found a 14-gram bag of a white powdered substance in the woman’s possession.

“This amount of suspected opioid was likely going to be trafficked into the West Shore community,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar, media relations officer for the West Shore RCMP in a release.

Police arrested the woman for possession with the purpose of trafficking, and also assessed she was intoxicated by drugs and not able to safely drive.

Her car was also impounded and police issued her a 24-hour driving prohibition.
