After a year hiatus, the annual Island Equipment Owners Association Truck Light Convoy and Food Drive is back this Saturday, and CHEK News will be streaming it live.

The annual parade sees a convoy of lit-up trucks roll along a 35-kilometre route through five Greater Victoria municipalities.

It started more than two decades ago, in 1998, when local truck driver Nirmal Johal gathered 11 of his friends with commercial trucks to drive around town decked out in Christmas lights, while at the same time campaigning for food bank donations.

This year, more than 80 trucks will roll through the region and spectators are welcome to bring food bank donations to the Westshore Motorsports Park when the convoy arrives at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

However, the IEOA recommends making an online food bank donation as the most convenient way to support the cause this year.

If you’d rather watch online, check out the parade from Ogden Point at the Breakwater on CHEK TV, CHEK+ and our social media platforms starting at 5:45 p.m.

Once again, spectators can also track where the parade is using RoadKing GPS.

For more information on the parade and how to donate, go to IEOA’s website.
