After two months in a multinational operation to disrupt illicit drug trafficking, HMCS Nanaimo returns to CFB Esquimalt Friday morning.

The vessel carrying about 40 crew members will be arriving close to 10 a.m.

The Nanaimo, along with Esquimalt-based HMCS Saskatoon, was deployed to the eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea in Operation CARIBBE.

The United States-led campaign saw the Canadian Armed Forces working with the US Coast Guard to disturb illicit trafficking.

The operation seized nearly 4,000 kilograms of cocaine and disrupted an estimated 5,100 kgs of the drug.

An estimated $298 million worth of drugs were kept off the streets during the operation.
