Drivers hoping to use Highway 4 should expect delays Monday morning after a vehicle incident has closed most of the road, down to single-lane alternating traffic in Qualicum Beach.

The incident on Highway 4 took place under the BC Highway 19 overpass, said DriveBC in a tweet.

More specifically, the incident took place between McLean Rd. and Rupert Rd., which is located approximately one kilometre west of Qualicum Beach.

In a video sent to CHEK from the scene of the crash, an emergency helicopter had landed on the road and it appeared that at least one person was being loaded to be airlifted to hospital.

In the aftermath of the incident, the wreckage shows that at least two vehicles were involved in the crash, however, it is unclear at this time if there were any more.

“Expect to stop and watch for traffic control,” notes DriveBC for anyone driving on Highway 4.

CHEK is looking into further details regarding the incident that occurred Monday morning.

Updates on the traffic conditions can be monitored on DriveBC’s website.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is learned.
