The Victoria Fire Department responded with 17 firefighters. At one point, crews cut a hole in the roof to attack the fire.

According to the fire department, the house was a residence with suites and the fire was contained to the attic and roof turret. There was also significant water damage on the main and upper floors. All of the tenants had independent insurance and the building was also insured.

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
