A beach advisory has been lifted for Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake.

The Capital Regional District and Island Health have lifted the advisory for Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake.

The advisory was issued on Aug. 16 when preliminary sampling showed high levels of bacteria.

On Friday, Island Health said sampling results at Hamsterly Beach now show bacteriological counts below acceptable limits in the water. The waters around the beach are now considered safe for swimming.

An advisory for Eagle Beach at Elk Lake remains in effect due to high levels of bacteria. Island Health is advising people and their pets to not enter the water at Eagle Beach.
