Green Party Leader Elizabeth May re-elected in Saanich-Gulf Islands riding

Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May will retain her seat in her Saanich-Gulf Islands riding.

Conservative candidate David Busch came in second in the riding.

The Green Party has also won a seat in Fredricton with candidate Jenica Atwin winning. Paul Manly was also re-elected in Nanaimo-Ladysmith.

May has been the leader of the federal Green Party since 2006 and was first elected as the Saanich- Gulf Island’s member of parliament in 2011.

May is currently the longest-serving leader and the longest-serving leader as a female of a federal party in Canada.
