Greater Victoria residents may see delays in recycling pickup again this week and a staffing shortage is to blame, according to the Capital Regional District (CRD).

The CRD says Emterra Environmental, the company responsible for managing the region’s curbside recycling collection, has warned that delays may impact scheduled pickup from Monday, Aug. 8 to Friday, Aug. 12.

In a service notice, the CRD says Emterra will attempt to recover recycling where possible and urges residents to leave materials not collected by 9 p.m. at the curb.

If it’s been 48 hours since the scheduled collection day and recycling is still at the curb, residents should send their address to the CRD at [email protected] informing them of the missed collection.

Looming delays come after a labour dispute disrupted Emterra’s recycling collection schedule back in February, with collection also disrupted the week of July 25 due to heat wave conditions and again last week due to a lack of staff.
