A seaside hotel in Greater Victoria was just recognized with two national awards.

The Oak Bay Beach Hotel was named Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s “Tourism Business of the Year.”

It was one of two Vancouver Island institutions to win an award at the TIAC 2023 Canadian Tourism Awards.

4VI, formerly known as the Tourism Association of Vancouver Island, also won the “Air Transat Sustainable Tourism Award” at the TIAC ceremony  Tuesday.

“This recognition is a tribute to the dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment of what I can only describe as a kick butt team of tourism professionals at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel,” said Madone Pelan, general manager of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel in a social media post Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Boathouse Spa located in the Oak Bay Beach Hotel was recognized as one of the top 25 spas across the country.

It made the list of the “Canadian Spa and Wellness Awards” for 2023, which was sponsored by magazine Spa Inc.

All spas that made the list underwent an “extensive evaluation process” by judges, as well as spa-goers who voted in the magazine, according to Spa Inc.

The list did not rank the spas from first place to 25th, but celebrated each of them as the 25 best in the country.

Earlier this year, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel was also named the seventh best hotel in Western Canada, according to the Conde Nast Traveler’s 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards.
