One of Victoria’s longest-running festivals returns next month following a two-year hiatus, and organizers say lots of fun is on tap.
The 28th annual Great Canadian Beer Festival takes over Royal Athletic Park on Friday, Sept. 9 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 10 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
More than 3,500 people are expected to attend the two-day festival featuring around 250 different beers from nearly 100 breweries, with some brewers travelling from across Canada to take part.
“It’s a rare opportunity to talk to these folks about what makes their beer special, and to try some new and classic brews from their lineup,” the Victoria Beer Society said in a news release.
“Some breweries will serve cask-conditioned beers exclusively produced for the festival. There will also be two cideries and one gluten-free brewery.”
Organizers say food and entertainment will also be on-site, with a 100-foot-long inflatable obstacle course set to test participants’ physical agility.
Single-day tickets are $45 and a two-day pass costs $80. Members of the Victoria Beer Society are eligible for a $10 discount.
