Graffiti suspect spotted in the act, arrested by police in Langford

West Shore RCMP arrested a 33-year-old male for graffiti late Sunday night after he was observed by officers spray painting graffiti underneath the off-ramp that leads from Highway 1 to Millstream Road. A search of the suspect's backpack found five cans of spray paint.

West Shore RCMP is reminding you that graffiti is a crime after a suspect was arrested for spray painting on property late Sunday night in Langford.

Police say a 33-year-old male was arrested for mischief under $5,000 after officers spotted him spray painting graffiti on the circular wall of the tunnel underneath the off-ramp that leads from Highway 1 to Millstream Road.

Mounties were conducting patrols driving south on the Millstream overpass just before midnight when they the male was observed.

West Shore RCMP Cst. Nancy Saggar says a search of the suspects backpack revealed five cans of spray paint that were seized by officers, and the male has a pending court date related to the crime.

“This is the sixth arrest the West Shore RCMP have made for graffiti since May 7, 2019,” Saggar said in a release.

“Graffiti is a crime, we will continue to pursue criminal charges against anyone who is caught spray painting graffiti.”
