Residents in Central Saanich are keeping their eyes peeled for a brown goat who went missing on July 8.

Two-year-old Genevieve escaped near the Patricia Bay Highway and Island View Road. The goat is a therapy pet at Binkadi Community Services, which helps adults and youth at risk. She has an eight-month-old kid named Delilah.

There have been several sightings of Genevieve in the Keating Cross Road area, but so far she’s eluded capture.

Me-Kon Hayes with Binkadi Community Services said they would like to find the goat as soon as possible.

“It’s important for her safety and also because she is a domestic animal, not a wild animal, and we’re worried about other wild animals and her in and out of traffic,” Hayes said.

Posters have been handed out in the area with a picture of the goat.

Genevive is brown with horns. She sports a hot pink collar and is about the size of a large dog. If anyone sees her, Hayes said they should not approach her, unless they are trained, as Genevive will run away. However, she does love strawberries, bananas, carrots and raisins.

Anyone who sees Genevive can call Hayes at 250-418-1414 or the Capital Regional District at 250-658-5745.
