In this episode of Get Up and Grow, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine and Gord Nickel, president of Wildwood Outdoor Living Centre, talk about wintergreens and Himalayan boxwoods.
Gord first shows Hannah edible wintergreen plants. These plants have bright red berries that add a pop of colour to your winter garden. The leaves and berries smell like mint yet have a more bitter taste.
The slow-growing plant only grows a couple of inches high and not very wide.
Gord then shows Hannah Himalayan boxwoods, these shrubs or small trees have fragrant white blossoms that bloom in late winter.
Both of these plants look great on their own or planted together.
