Get Up and Grow: Begonia hanging baskets & witch hazels

In this episode of Get Up and Grow, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine and Gord Nickel, president of Wildwood Outdoor Living Centre, plant a begonia hanging basket and talk about witch hazel.

Gord shows Hannah how to properly plant non-stop begonia into a hanging basket for a long-lasting spring display.

The flowers like a slightly acidic soil and can be planted near the top of the soil, no need to bury these deep down.

Once they plant the begonia, Gord then shows Hannah the witch hazel trees. Witch hazel flower in February and grow to be fairly large.

Gord then tells Hannah what the branches of witch hazel were used for way back in the day.
