Nanaimo RCMP say four men were arrested following an apparent home invasion that left one man with minor injuries.

Officers were called to a home in the 500-block of 2nd Street at around 6:50 p.m. last Thursday. When they arrived, they found a suspect vehicle trying to flee the area and arrested four men at the scene.

Investigators also found a man with in his early 20s who had suffered minor injuries inside the home, reportedly from being involved in an altercation with the four suspects.

All four men arrested were from Nanaimo as well, RCMP said in a statement.

Investigators say it appears to be an isolated and “deliberate” event, with no further risk to the public.

“The response by officers to this dangerous volatile situation was a clear cut example of the strong communication between 911 dispatchers, General Duty patrol officers and specialized plain clothes units, whose goal is to ensure the safety of the citizens of Nanaimo,” Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien said.

One of the four suspects arrested was charged with assault with a weapon and has since been released from court on a promise to appear March 15, 2022 in Nanaimo Provincial Court. The three other men were released without charges.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-743-2345 and quote file number 2022-554.
