Firefighters quickly extinguish apartment fire on Fisgard Street

Crews with the Victoria Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire at an apartment in the downtown area.

Firefighters were called to the building at 820 Fisgard Street at around 3:10 p.m. for a fire in one of the suites. The fire was put out within a few minutes.

The fire was contained to one suite, with a mattress and some clothes burnt. However, water did have to be shut off for the entire building as some plumbing was affected. Alternate accommodations are being found for all the tenants.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
