A fire that broke out in a Saanich home shut down part of Richmond Road on a snowy Monday morning.
Police closed Richmond Road between Cedar Avenue and Knight Avenue as Saanich Fire Department responded to the blaze. Smoke could be seen billowing from the structure as crews arrived.
A Saanich Police spokesperson told CHEK News they expected the road to reopen shortly as the fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters.
There were no injuries, police said. Fire officials on scene later confirmed no one was in the home at the time and the blaze appeared to have originated in a suite on the bottom level of the home.
Saanich Police said updates would be available on the road closure via Twitter.
