Oak Bay police say a fire inside the Willows Beach washroom building on the weekend is considered suspicious and are asking witnesses to come forward with information.

Police believe the paper towel dispenser in the men’s washroom was set on fire, resulting in smoke damage to the building and destroying the dispenser.

Officers were called around 7:40 p.m. after a 16-year-old Oak Bay male riding his bike in the Willows Beach area noticed smoke coming from the washroom building.

Oak Bay fire put the blaze out prior to police arriving.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the fire or any suspicious activity in the area Saturday night to call Oak Bay police or Crime Stoppers.
