Hillside Avenue, between Blanshard and Quadra St. in Victoria is closed as firefighters continue to battle a blaze in a townhouse complex.
The fire was reported around 3 am at Evergreen Terrace, formerly known as Blanshard Courts.
One suite was fully involved. It then spread to two adjacent units.
Two residents had to be treated for smoke inhalation. Many other people have been displaced by the fire.
The Mustard Seed Food Bank, a few blocks away, has opened up early to accommodate the people evacuated.
